The Association

Local Government Works Association of Western Australia Inc (LG Works) is a non-profit association, providing member services, professional and personal development, and an Annual State Conference and Trade Exhibition for Supervisors, Works and Service Officers and Member Councils in Western Australia.

LG Works members are from local authorities within the State and the varied backgrounds of our members ensure a high standard of care for all our Australian major assets, ensuring a healthy future for our transportation and public infrastructure.

Works and Service Officers oversee and are involved with the construction, development and maintenance of roads, drainage, reserves, reticulation, machinery and workshops, water management, waste and recycling.

Aims and objectives of LG Works

LG Works aims to provide a central organisation of Works and Service Officers within Local Government to:

  • keep members informed about issues, techniques, new products, etc.
  • promote co-operation, mutual assistance and good friendship
  • provide training and scholarship opportunities
  • provide a strong foundation for continued maintenance and development of assets
  • support our members in advancing their careers within the local government sector
  • foster inter-relations with other Associations
  • maintain and conduct itself as a non-political, non-industrial, non-profit organisation.

Engineering and Other Services

Director: Allister Butcher

Rural Infrastructure Services (RIS) have 18 years of experience in the Local Government industry, primarily in the Operations/Works area, managing these areas all the way from $1m to $17m annual budgets across the Wheatbelt, Gascoyne and South West areas.

RIS can provide support and/or delivery of services to Local Governments in the areas of project development, project management, municipal and grant funding arrangements, budgeting, asset management, asset inspections, development/planning applications (engineering aspects) review and assessments, subdivision assessments (including design review, inspections and approvals), staff management and much more.

With experience in the rural local government area, RIS have a passion to assist these local governments to deliver to the highest possible level and secure as much funding as possible.

LGWA has partnered with BrainBox to bring you ongoing training to help you advance in your career. LG Works e-learning was launched at the 2021 Conference. Personalised training delivered to you, our members, in bite-size components, with a certificate of competency on completion.
