LG Works WA aims to provide training and scholarship opportunities to Works and Service Officers within Local Government. Opportunities include:

LG Works e-learning

LG Works e-learning is a cost-effective, professional e-learning platform. LG Works e-learning delivers relevant knowledge right to the point where it is needed. The learning experience is short, sharp and highly targeted.

Annual Scholarships

Local Government Works (LG Works) Association of Western Australia Inc. Annual Scholarships will enable a local government staff member from a country shire and a metropolitan local government, to attend the WA Annual State Conference, wherever it is held.

Study Awards

This award has been developed for the benefit of furthering the educational and development needs of Works and Service Officers in Western Australia. Works and Service Officers have the opportunity to apply for one of the two Awards available through the Local Government Works (LG Works) Association of Western Australia Inc.

Service Award

The Honourable Service Award is a significant public recognition and celebration of the outstanding achievements and lasting contribution made by Members of the LG Works WA Inc to their respective Councils, to the Local Government and to the wider community.

The Executive Committee of the LGWA are pleased to announce that we have renewed the Memorandum of Understanding with Local Government Professionals WA.

This partnership arrangement recognises that LGPAWA and LGWA are both reputable peak bodies representing and supporting their respective members working in local governments. Not only do our members obtain a 5% discount to selected LGPAWA’s events and training programs, we also have the opportunity to provide input to any submission of LGPAWA in response to legislation and regulations changes that has an impact on both Associations’ respective members.

Engineering and Other Services

Director: Allister Butcher

Rural Infrastructure Services (RIS) have 18 years of experience in the Local Government industry, primarily in the Operations/Works area, managing these areas all the way from $1m to $17m annual budgets across the Wheatbelt, Gascoyne and South West areas.

RIS can provide support and/or delivery of services to Local Governments in the areas of project development, project management, municipal and grant funding arrangements, budgeting, asset management, asset inspections, development/planning applications (engineering aspects) review and assessments, subdivision assessments (including design review, inspections and approvals), staff management and much more.

With experience in the rural local government area, RIS have a passion to assist these local governments to deliver to the highest possible level and secure as much funding as possible.

We are pleased to let you know that membership of the Local Government Supervisors Association of WA now also includes complimentary membership of Municipal Works Australia (MWA), the national body that provides professional development and networking resources to municipal works professionals working in councils throughout Australia.

Membership of MWA allows you to connect with your local government colleagues throughout the country, access free webinars, and to stay up to date on topical issues via the Networker E-Newsletter and the MWA’s networking events. The LGWA have introducing a new training program for our members which you can access through this website.

LGWA has partnered with BrainBox to bring you ongoing training to help you advance in your career. LG Works e-learning was launched at the 2021 Conference. Personalised training delivered to you, our members, in bite-size components, with a certificate of competency on completion.
