LG Works WA aims to provide training and scholarship opportunities to Works and Service Officers within Local Government. Opportunities include:

LG Works e-learning

LG Works e-learning is a cost-effective, professional e-learning platform. LG Works e-learning delivers relevant knowledge right to the point where it is needed. The learning experience is short, sharp and highly targeted.

Annual Scholarships

Local Government Works (LG Works) Association of Western Australia Inc. Annual Scholarships will enable a local government staff member from a country shire and a metropolitan local government, to attend the WA Annual State Conference, wherever it is held.

Study Awards

This award has been developed for the benefit of furthering the educational and development needs of Works and Service Officers in Western Australia. Works and Service Officers have the opportunity to apply for one of the two Awards available through the Local Government Works (LG Works) Association of Western Australia Inc.

Service Award

The Honourable Service Award is a significant public recognition and celebration of the outstanding achievements and lasting contribution made by Members of the LG Works WA Inc to their respective Councils, to the Local Government and to the wider community.

What's on offer

LG Works e-learning

Training courses online

LG Works bring you a new training program called LG Works e-learning which you can access via our website. Training will be conducted online with the aid of the Brain Box Team.

The feedback from members on career advancement was that they needed to update their skills in some areas, and train in areas they had not yet needed to use.

LG Works e-learning offers LG Works members a well-designed, flexible, portable and cost-effective system of learning. It provides an opportunity to help our members develop their skills without compromising time and cost.

Service Awards

Recognition for outstanding achievement

Local Government Works and Service Officers and Local Shires are invited to submit nominations for the Association Honourable Service Award.

The Honourable Service Award is a significant public recognition and celebration of the outstanding achievements and lasting contribution made by Members of LG Works WA Inc to their respective Councils, to the Local Government and to the wider community.
Awards will be presented to recipients, and their achievements celebrated with their peers at an awards ceremony held during the LG Works Conference and Expo held each year, and advertised in the Access Magazine which is distributed throughout Australia.

The Annual Scholarship

Encourage a promising staffmember

LG Works WA Inc has pleasure in announcing that it will again offer a Scholarship to a promising local government staff member to attend the LG Works Conference & Expo.

Applications are sought from both country and metropolitan local governments.
The Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager Infrastructure or those in a similar management position are asked to promote these scholarships to members of their staff, and to nominate appropriate staff members prior to the closing date.

Scholarships are not open to current Supervisors or Managers.

This partnership arrangement recognises that LGPAWA and LGWA are both reputable peak bodies representing and supporting their respective members working in local governments. Engineering and Other Services

Director: Allister Butcher

Rural Infrastructure Services (RIS) have 18 years of experience in the Local Government industry, primarily in the Operations/Works area, managing these areas all the way from $1m to $17m annual budgets across the Wheatbelt, Gascoyne and South West areas.

RIS can provide support and/or delivery of services to Local Governments in the areas of project development, project management, municipal and grant funding arrangements, budgeting, asset management, asset inspections, development/planning applications (engineering aspects) review and assessments, subdivision assessments (including design review, inspections and approvals), staff management and much more.

With experience in the rural local government area, RIS have a passion to assist these local governments to deliver to the highest possible level and secure as much funding as possible.
